America must build enough homes in 2040. Housing won’t get cheaper while supply is far too low and working families must compete for too few homes.
My ‘American Housing Abundance Act’ would use federal infrastructure grants and other incentives to encourage local governments to permit adequate housing. The federal government should not dictate every local zoning decision, but it can reward communities that make responsible growth possible.
Federal incentives could and would also support duplexes, townhouses, accessory dwelling units, modest apartment buildings, and other forms of “missing-middle” housing.
My administration would also expand commercial-to-residential conversions where vacant offices, hotels, or other suitable structures can safely become housing.
We need to find every way other unmentioned way possible to make housing cheaper in this country. Being 21 at the time of writing this, I unfortunately understand how much of a nightmare our housing market is in this day and age firsthand, up close and personal. We must combat this.
My policies:
Establish the American Housing Abundance Act.
Connect competitive federal support to housing construction.
Encourage missing-middle housing.
Support accessory dwelling units and townhouses.
Expand commercial-to-residential conversions.
Respect local authority while rewarding responsible reform.
Reduce regulatory delays without abandoning safety.
Ensure new housing does not impact serious environmental concerns or infringe on protected land and wildlife.
Increase housing supply for working and middle-class Americans.
